Plumer Earns Men's Basketball Elite 20 Award at MWC Tournament

Scpts repeat with prestigious academic award

MONMOUTH, Ill (02/28/2026) — Monmouth College senior Turner Plumer (Canton, Illinois) was honored with the Elite 20 Award before the Fighting Scots Midwest Conference tournament game against Lake Forest. This marks the second year in a row that a Monmouth player has won the MWC Elite 20 Award as Jason Huber (Carpentersville, Illinois) took home the award last year.

Each year, the Midwest Conference recognizes the student-athlete, with the highest cumulative grade point average, participating in his or her respective sport's culminating championship or tournament event. The award recognizes the commitment of the student-athlete toward the pursuit of excellence in both the athletic and academic realms as measured by reaching the pinnacle of competition within the league, while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers.

Plumer, an engineering major, returned from ACL surgery in January after missing a year of basketball action. He appeared in Monmouth's final 12 games of the season with a start on Senior Day. Plumer averaged 3.1 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 51.9% from the field. In his last full season, 2023-24, Plumer was a Second Team Midwest Conference selection and also named to the CSC Academic All-District team.

Plumer was named Monmouth's Student Laureate of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois in September and is slated to be one of the speakers at Commencement in May. He has served as a physics and engineering tutor on campus while also working as a resident assistant. Off-campus, Plumer has worked as an engineering intern at IDOT and KEDbluestone and volunteers back home every summer for Habitat for Humanity and to raise money running for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Plumer joins football kicker Mylee Hansen (Pekin, Illinois) as Monmouth student athletes to be awarded the Elite 20 by the Midwest Conference this season.
