Beach Scores but Women's Soccer Falls at Buena Vista
MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/02/2024) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team fell 2-1 at Buena Vista on Sunday in the second of four games in a nine-day span to start the season.
Neither team scored in the first half and Monmouth had more chances, outshooting the Beavers 11-2. Buena Vista took the lead in the 47th minute and made it 2-0 just six minutes later. Monmouth got on the board in the 57th minute as Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) scored her first goal of the season, unassisted.
Monmouth had a pair of late chances but the Beaves denied shots from Brooke Gruby (Leonardtown, Maryland) and Lauren DellaValle (Peoria, Illinois). Beach had a shot saved with less than five seconds on the shot as BVU held on for the 2-1 win. .
Bronte De Zwart (Adelaide, Australia) made the start in goal and had four saves in 64 minutes. Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) didn't allow a goal in the final 26 minutes while also making four saves.
