Beach Scores Twice as Scots Win at Ripon
Consecutive 3-0 wins for Monmouth
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/21/2023) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team scored in both halves and picked up their second straight 3-0 win on Saturday. The Scots (5-7-3, 3-3-1) got two goals from Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) in the shutout road win over Ripon
Beach got the Scots on the board in the 38th minute with an unassisted goal. She beat the Ripon keeper high and to the left to put Monmouth up 1-0, a lead they took into the halftime break.
Early in the second half, senior Madison Walker (Vernon Hills, Illinois) scored her ninth goal of the season. She shot high and right to beat the Ripon keeper for a 2-0 Scots lead. Just five minutes later, Beach took a pass from her former high school teammate Allison Griffin (Geneseo, Illinois) and blasted her second goal of the game down the middle.
Goalkeeper Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made six saves as Monmouth recorded their second straight clean sheet.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois), Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) and Caster played all 90 minutes. Monmouth had 16 shots, nine on goal in the game. Ripon had 16 shots, six on goal. Corner kicks were even at four. Walker had five shots on goal while Beach had three. Monmouth has four shutouts on the season. Walker moved into 11th on the career points list and eighth on the career goals list. She needs one more goal to tie for seventh with 26. Beach and Walker are tied for the team lead with nine goals, one shy of the top 20 on the single-season list. Beach has 26 points on the season, tied for 15th on the Monmouth list. Her eight assists are tied for sixth. Monmouth plays at Grinnell College at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, their MWC finale.
