Chadderdon Scores Twice as Scots Lacrosee Wins Home Finale

Five Players Score in 7-4 Win

MONMOUTH, Ill (04/22/2021) — The Monmouth College women's lacrosse team won the home finale on Wednesday with a 7-4 victory over the Cornell Rams. The Fighting Scots (2-6, 1-4) got two goals each from Aspen Chadderdon (Marshalltown, Iowa) and Madison Meldrum (Colona, Illinois) in the win.

"It is always exciting to get a win and Cornell is a team we have been back and forth with the last couple of years," said coach Elizabeth Demara. "To get a win to send our seniors, Aspen and Lesly (Montoya) out is awesome."

Both of Meldrum's goals came in the first half as the Scots built a 4-0 lead. Haydn Deeleuw (Kirksville, Missouri) and Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) also scored in the opening half as Olivia Matlock (Lee's Summit, Missouri) made 11 saves before the break.

Chadderdon gave Monmouth a 5-0 lead early in the second half before Cornell scored three straight. Chadderdon scored again for a 6-3 lead and Skyler Rapp (Oxnard, California) finished off the scoring with 11:20 to play.

"Aspen went all out and she has been awesome to coach the last four years," said Demara. "Tonight was a full team effort, our defense was awesome today. Our bench has been great all year and we got some people in different positions tonight and it paid off."

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Chadderdon led the team with four ground balls...Matlock finished with 17 saves...Meldrum took six shots and she leads the team with 14 goals on the season...The Scots were 2-for-9 in free position shots...Chadderdon won eight draw controls and added an assist...The Scots finish the regular season Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota against Hamline University...
