Conner Sharp took the reins in Monmouth's season-opener in Vero Beach, Florida, leading a 7-0, 9-2 sweep of Norwich University.

The senior righty tossed a complete-game seven inning shutout by fanning eight, walking two and scattering six hits against the Cadets in Game 1. Sharp allowed runners in scoring position just three times in the game, but only one reached third before Sharp sat down the side.

Matt Temaner led the offense, reaching four times with three hits and a walk to score three runs. His season-opening triple set the table for Monmouth's three-run first and the Scots never looked back. Sean Davis went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs in Game 1.

A.J. Hatlestad gave up just four hits in the nightcap win before turning the ball over to Mason Smith in the seventh. Smith worked around a leadoff error and two hits to complete the sweep.
