Josie Morgan Named MWC Performer of Week

Senior standout led Scots to 3-1 record last week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/07/2022) — Monmouth College women's basketball senior Josie Morgan (Washington, Illinois) was named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday. In four games last week Morgan scored 51 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and handed out 19 assists as the Scots went 3-1 to move into a tie for 2nd place in the MWC.

Morgan also had five steals and three blocks last week, recording a career-high two blocks at Illinois College on Tuesday. She grabbed a career-high eight rebounds on Saturday at Grinnell and topped that with nine rebounds on Sunday against Grinnell. Morgan was 15-for-16 at the free throw line in the four games and hit 6-of-14 from 3-point range. The senior guard played 146 of a possible 160 minutes last week.

Morgan ranks third in the MWC in scoring at 15.2 ppg and leads the conference in assists at 4.2 per game. She ranks fourth in both FG% (39.7) and FT% (81.7) and ranks second in 3-pointers made per game (2.4). Her 1.8 A/TO ratio also leads the conference and she's played a conference-leading 598 minutes this season, or 35.2 per game.

At 8-3 the Scots are tied for second in the conference with Knox, who plays on Monday night. The Scots travel to the Prairie Fire on Wednesday night and then host Ripon Saturday at 3 p.m. with Senior Day festivities.
