Kistler Scores Twice as Scots Beat Cornell

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/30/2026) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team scored two goals in both halves and cruised to a 4-1 conference win over Cornell on Tuesday.

The Fighting Scots (6-2, 2-1) fell behind early as the Rams scored on a corner kick just five minutes into the game. Monmouth bounced right back and after having a shot saved, the hosts tied the game on a breakaway goal by Lily Palazzolo (Washington, Michigan). In the 16th minute, Monmouth took the lead for good. Allison Griffin (Geneseo, Illinois) played the ball off to Morgan Kistler (Kokomo, Indiana) and the sophomore didn't miss as she put the Scots up 2-1.

Early in the second half the Scots put the game away. Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) beat the Rams keeper to the ball, miles from goal and slotted home into an empty net just 1:56 into the half. Less than 30 seconds later, Kistler made it 4-1 with an unassisted goal. Izzy Seipold (Peoria, Illinois) made two saves in the second half as the Scots kept Cornell scoreless over the final 85 minutes.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Cadence Covert (Pekin, Illinois) started in goal and made one save in the first half ... Taylor Freeman (Washington, Illinois), Yoselim Hernandez (Monmouth, Illinois), Ali Barnum (Pekin, Illinois) and Ali Denton (Saint Peters, Missouri) played all 90 minutes ... Kistler has seven goals this season and 16 on her career ... The 16 goals rank 18th in Monmouth history ... Hobson is tied for 19th on the career list with 15 goals ...
