Ledet Scores but Scots Fall 2-1 at Lake Forest

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/06/2026) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team fell on the road to defending MWC champion Lake Forest 2-1 on Tuesday. The Scots play at Beloit on Saturday before returning home for two games in three days.

Senior goalkeeper Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) made a save in the seventh minute, the 100th of his college career. Just a few minutes later, Federico Moreno-Reyes (Wheeling, Illinois) put a shot on goal for Monmouth but the Foresters keeper kept the game scoreless. Villa made one more save in the half as the game went to the break scoreless.

Lake Forest took the lead 13 minutes into the second half before Villa made another save. LFC made another save on Moreno-Reyes and then doubled the lead on a penalty kick with 26:45 left to play. With just under 10 minutes to go, the Scots got on the board. Koby Bodner (Lincoln, Nebraska) played a long ball from midfield, the Scots took advantage of a deflection in the box and Cohen Ledet (Maurice, Louisiana) chipped the keeper for his first collegiate goal.

The Scots didn't get another good opportunity to pull even and Lake Forest closed out the 2-1 win.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Villa made five saves ... Villa made his 100th career save in his 26th career start ... In addition to Villa, Ian Rowland (Jackson, Georgia) and Alex Franco (El Paso, Texas) also played all 90 minutes ... Bodner also had an assist last year ... Shots were 20-6 LFC with shots on goal at 7-3 ... Lake Forest leads the all-time series 23-5-3 with three straight wins ... The Scots play at 11 am Saturday at Beloit ...
