Manley Earns Top 20 Finish for Women's Cross Country

Men finish 5th in team standings

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/02/2023) — The Monmouth College cross country teams started the season on Friday night at the Corridor Clash in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The men's team finished in fifth place while freshman Isabella Manley (Peoria, Illinois) garnered a top 20 finish for the women's team.

Manley finished 19th overall in her first collegiate race. The freshman covered the 5K course in 21:44.7, earning a top-20 prize for the event. Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) finished 36th in a time of 22:37.1, just ahead of Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) with a time of 22:40.7. The Scots didn't register a team score on the women's side.

William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) led the Monmouth men with a 21st place finish in a time of 16:34.6. Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) ran 16:52.9 to finish 27th and freshman Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) finished 31st in 17:00.4. Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) was 43rd in 17:33.7 and Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) was 77th in a time of 19:26.5. Alex Urbina (Round Lake Beach, Illinois) and Nate Newlin (Dekalb, Illinois) rounded out the Monmouth team with times of 20:39.7 and 24:03.9 respectively.

The Scots will next run on Saturday, September 9 as they compete in the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College.
