Men's Soccer Falls at Beloit on Saturday
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/11/2026) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team scored twice early for leads but ultimately lost 8-2 at Beloit College on Saturday.
Just eight minutes into the game, freshman Mubaraq Basheer (Katy, Texas) took a pass from Nehemiah Coleman (Portland, Oregon) and put the Scots on top 1-0. Senior goalkeeper Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) made a save in the 14th minute but just 90 seconds later the Buccaneers tied the game. The Scots wasted no time in regaining the lead as Ryan Rodrguez-Gardea scored his first career goal for a 2-1 lead. Beloit tied the game in the 38th minute and took a 3-2 lead with a goal just two minutes before halftime.
Beloit scored five minutes into the second half for a 4-2 lead. They added two more goals in the next eight minutes to push the advantage to 6-2. Monmouth picked up a red card in the 63rd minute and Beloit added two more goals for an 8-2 win.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Villa made seven saves in 66 minutes before Calvin Cotton (Hernando, Mississippi) made seven saves in the final 24 minutes ... Alex Franco (El Paso, Texas) was the only Monmouth player to play all 90 minutes ... Owen Murray (Cedar City, Utah) had his second assist of the season and sixth of his career ... With 36 career points he moved into a tie for 10th on the MC career list ... The Scots are 7-22-3 all-time against Beloit with six straight losses ...Monmouth's last win was 2-1 in 2019...The Scots host Cornell at Noon on Thursday.
