Men's Soccer Falls at Rockford on Friday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/09/2023) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team lost 2-0 at Rockford University on Friday night. Their road trip continues Saturday with an afternoon game at Edgewood.

Monmouth goalkeeper Christopher Zavala (New Lenox, Illinois) made seven saves in the contest but the Regents grabbed a pair of first-half goals. They scored in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead and doubled the lead in the 25th minute.

Neither team scored in the final 65 minutes of the game and Zavala had five of his saves in the second half. Monmouth's lone shot on goal came from freshman Carter Breuchad (Lebanon, Illinois) in the second half.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Ramon Aguilar (St. Louis, Missouri), Tanner Viren (East Moline, Illinois), Kristofer Ruiz-Camarena (El Paso, Texas) and Zavala played all 90 minutes. Monmouth at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday with a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Scots will play two games in Iowa, at Coe on Sept. 11 and at Upper Iowa two days later. The next home game is Sept. 19 against Principia.
