MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/16/2026) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team fell 1-0 at Augustana on Tuesday night. The Scots will start Midwest Conference play at home on Saturday against Grinnell.

After having a shot blocked. Owen Murray (Cedar City, Texas) forced a save in the eighth minute and Monmouth goalkeeper Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) made a save in the 10th minute. Federico Moreno-Reyes (El Paso, Texas), Isai Barajas (El Paso, Texas) and Paul Oros (El Paso, Texas) all had shots on goal saved before the half hour mark. Monmouth dominated possession but couldn't break through as Ian Rowland (Jackson, Georgia) also had a shot saved. Villa made a save in the last ten minutes of the half as the game remained scoreless.

The Vikings forced two saves from Villa early in the second half before scoring in the 59th minute. Murray forced a save as he came close to tying the game with just over seven minutes to play. After Villa made his sixth save of the game, late shots from Moreno-Reyes and Bryan Corona (El Paso, Texas) sailed high as the game ended 1-0.
