Monmouth College invites local fans to participate in Community Day Sept. 26

Monmouth, IL (09/16/2026) — Well over 2,000 fans were in attendance at April Zorn Memorial Stadium for Monmouth College's first home football game of the season Sept. 5, and organizers are hoping for a similar turnout when the college hosts Community Day activities for the Fighting Scots' next home game on Sept. 26.

Local fans will be able to enjoy exciting pre-game traditions and post-game fun. The contest between Monmouth and the visiting Ripon College Red Hawks - ironically, the opponent for last fall's inaugural Community Day - will begin at 1 p.m.

Also in action on Community Day will be the Fighting Scots' men's and women's soccer teams. They'll kick off against Lawrence University at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.

Community Day is not only a time to celebrate the Fighting Scots, but also the schools and teams in the area, said Monmouth Director of Alumni Engagement Jen Armstrong.

"We're hoping the community will come out in spirit wear or uniforms from their own schools - anything from football or volleyball swag, to cheer or baton uniforms," she said.

All fans will be invited to help welcome coach Chad Braun's squad onto the field by forming a Scots spirit tunnel in the area between Hewes Library and Zorn Stadium at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Tartan Threads, the college's on-campus spirit store on the lower level of Stockdale Center, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fans are invited to stop by and shop the latest apparel, accessories and Scots spirit wear.

Also on the lower level of Stockdale Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., fans can create a custom game-day sign to cheer on the Scots. Supplies and templates will be provided, and temporary Fighting Scots tattoos will be available. The best sign will be recognized before the tunnel run or at halftime.

Other perks of the day will include:

A lunch and fair will be held in The Quad south of Zorn Stadium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family-friendly fun will include kilt photos, cotton candy, inflatables, face painting, caricature drawings and more. Lunch tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children.
Autograph, please! After the game, members of the football team will sign their names for fans on the adjacent softball field.
Fans can also share their spirit by posting photos from Community Day and tagging @monmouthcollege.

"Come out and enjoy a day at one of the most beautiful spots in Monmouth," said Armstrong. "There's something for everyone at Community Day, and we hope families, friends and neighbors will join us for activities, entertainment and time together on campus."
