Monmouth College vocal ensembles to present two concerts at Chicagoland churches

Monmouth, Ill. (02/24/2022) — Chicagoland alumni will have a special opportunity to hear the Monmouth Chorale and Chamber Choir in early March.

After a one-year hiatus, the vocal ensembles are once again doing a spring break tour, and their travels will take them to two suburban Chicago churches for public performances, as well as several area high schools.

"We are excited to go on tour again for the first time since 2020," said music professor Tim Pahel, who directs both groups. "We will give two full concerts and do choral exchange concerts at four high schools, where we will sing for the school choirs and they will sing for us."

Kicking off the events in the Chicago area will be an alumni reception at 2 p.m. March 5 in the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook.

Later that day at 7:30 p.m., the vocal groups will present a concert at the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville.

The second concert for the Chorale and Chamber Choir will be presented the following day, March 6, at 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Palos Heights.

"These experiences are always fun and a great recruiting opportunity for us," said Pahel. "Both groups are singing very well, the students are excited, and I think the performances are going to be excellent."

Being on the road is nice, but both vocal ensembles also enjoying performing at the College's Dahl Chapel and Auditorium, which they will do at 7:30 p.m. March 19.
