Monmouth opened the season 4-0 for the first time since 1974 with Sunday's 78-56 win at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The Scots, which used 15 players in the game, led for all but 35 seconds and raced out to a 12-point lead at 16-4 just six minutes into the contest. The Raiders responded, tying the game at 24-24 with 7:26 left in the first half before Monmouth raced ahead again.
A 3-pointer from Jake Rueter sparked a 20-3 run in the final minutes of the first half as Monmouth cruised into halftime with a 44-27 lead. Will Carius and Dee Hyler hit the first six points for the Scots to open the second half on their way to 22 and 12 point afternoons, respectively. A pair of Jonathan Oradiegwu free throws gave the Scots' their first 20-point lead of the afternoon at 58-37 midway through the second half. Monmouth kept that margin for most of the remainder of the game to notch their fourth win in as many games.
The Scots continue their three-game road trip, their longest of the season, Tuesday with a 7:30 contest at Iowa Wesleyan.
