Monmouth Women to Face No. 5 Wartburg in NCAA First Round Game

Monmouth, IL (03/02/2020) — Monmouth Women to Face No. 5 Wartburg in NCAA First Round Game

Making only their second trip in program history to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, Monmouth College (21-6) will meet No. 5 Wartburg College (24-3) on the Knight's home court in Waverly, Iowa, on Friday. Game time and ticket information will be set later this week.

Monmouth will face a ranked team for the second time this season, facing ninth-ranked Transylvania in California over winter break. Wartburg has won all three contests between the teams which last met during the 2014-15 season.

The Scots' first appearance in the NCAA Tournament was in 2012 and resulted in a 75-68 loss to the University of Chicago. Monmouth enters Friday's contest with a program-record 21 wins after claiming the Midwest Conference's automatic berth with a 74-69 win over Ripon in the league tournament championship game.
