National Marks and a Record for Scots at Home Invitational
Monmouth, IL (02/16/2020) — A trio of potential national qualifying marks and one school record were among Monmouth's performances at Saturday's Fighting Scot Invitational.
Monmouth won 10 events which included a new record in the women's 60-meter hurdles at the non-scored eight-team meet. Running on her home indoor track for the final time, senior Vanessa Caldwell ran a personal-best in the prelims of the hurdle event at 9.18 and then posted a record time for the win in the finals at 9.12, clipping the previous record by one one-hundredth of a second.
Led by Joe Krall's win in the weight throw, the men turned in three marks that may qualify them for the NCAA Championships. Krall's honor roll mark of 63'4-1/2" won the event by more than 6' and ranks as the second-best throw in the nation. Drew Thaxton - who was third in the weight at 55'9-1/4" - traded places with Krall in the shot put, taking the top spot in the shot put with the 14th-best throw in the nation at 53'1" while Krall placed third at 47'9-3/4". The Scots' third national mark came in the 60 dash where Stone Darrow ran a PR of 6.93 to place second and rank 14th nationally.
