Patterson Named MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week

Freshman returned a kickoff 74 yards for TD

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/18/2023) — Monmouth College freshman football player Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week on Monday..

Patterson touched the ball one time on Saturday and returned a kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to put the Scots up 49-7 and they went on to beat Lawrence 70-13. The 74-yard kick return came with 31 seconds left in the first half and is the Scots first kick return for a touchdown this season.

Patterson also had a 17-yard kick return against Chicago in the home opener and he has two returns for 91 yards on the season.

The Scots have won a MWC award each week this season with Nate Thornton (Peoria, Illinois) winning on offense in week one and Tevin Baker (Kewanee, Illinois) winning on defense in week two. The Scots have a bye this week before traveling to Illinois College on Saturday, Sept. 30.
