Scots' Krall, Biel Named D3football.com All-Region

Monmouth, IL (12/10/2019) — Monmouth seniors Joe Krall (New Berlin, Ill./New Berlin) and Joey Biel (Spokane, Wash./Northwest Christian) have earned All-West Region honors from D3football.com, marking the seventh consecutive year a Fighting Scots has earned All-Region honors from the website dedicated to NCAA Division III football.

Krall earned his third straight all-region honor from the media outlet, earning offensive first team honors this season after being named third team last year and second team as a sophomore. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound right tackle last week was named an All-American by the American Football Coaches' Association. Krall began the season as a two-time All-Region performer as selected by D3football.com, which also named him a preseason All-American. Named the Offensive Line MVP by the Midwest Conference, Krall was a key member of the offensive line that provided pass protection as Scots' quarterbacks threw for over 1,200 yards and had a cumulative pass efficiency rating of 101.46. He also helped pave the way for a pair of first-year starting running backs who combined to rush for nearly 1,300 yards.

A business major, Krall is the son of Connie Krall and Michael and Kathi Krall.

Biel picked up his first all-region honor after D3football.com named him to the third team defense as a punter. Biel, who also handled place kicking duties for Scots, averaged over 40 yards on 58 punts this season, bombing six more than 50 yards with a longest of 64 yards, and landing 16 inside the 20-yard line. He wrapped up his Monmouth career averaging a program record 40.3 yards per punt on 151 punts, landing 38 inside the 20-yard line. His longest punt, a 77-yarder during his junior campaign ranks as the fifth-longest in Fighting Scots' history.

A business major, Biel is the son of Rick and Bethany Biel.

The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 270 nominations by Division III member schools. Players nominated for All-Region are also eligible for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 20.
