Scots in Scotland is topic of College's next Monmouth Associates on Nov. 21

Monmouth, Ill. (11/14/2019) — Ten Fighting Scots traveled to Scotland last spring, and several of them will be on hand to share their experiences at the next Monmouth Associates luncheon at Monmouth College.

The students will be joined at their Nov. 21 presentation by the leader of the trip, Dean of the Faculty Mark Willhardt, and by Executive Assistant to the President Ronda Willhardt. The program will begin at noon in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room in Stockdale Center.

The trip constituted the travel portion of a "Literary Scotland" course taught by Willhardt, a longtime English professor at Monmouth before transitioning to the role of dean in 2018. He said the trip's purpose was "to explore the lives of the authors and places depicted in the readings for our 'Literary Scotland' class."

The cost for a buffet lunch is $10 ($9 for Monmouth faculty and staff). Reservations can be made by calling 309-457-2231 by Nov. 19 or by email at alumni@monmouthcollege.edu.

A free shuttle van transports passengers from two locations to every Associates luncheon. The van stops at the northeast quadrant of the Public Square at 11:45 a.m. and at the Faith United Presbyterian Church parking lot at around 11:50 a.m. It returns to both locations immediately following the program. Shuttle reservations can be made by calling 309-457-2231.

Parking is available in the Stockdale Center lot or along North Ninth Street.
