Scots Start Indoor Track & Field Season at Frigid Bee Opener
MONMOUTH, Ill. (12/07/2025) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams opened their indoor season on Saturday at the Frigid Bee Opener in Davenport, Iowa. The meet included Division III programs Wartburg and Loras along with teams from Division II and NAIA.
WOMEN
Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) and Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) went 1-2 in the weight throw as both threw 15.26m. Kyra Bivins (Rochelle, Illinois) took fourth at 13.62m and freshman Lauren Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) was sixth at 12.33m
Braun took second in the shot put at 12.36m with Orwig in fourth at 11.31m. Bivins finished fifth at 11.14m with Toth in sixth at 11.11m.
Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) took second in the long jump at 5.29m with freshman A'yaiana Maxwell (Peoria, Illinois) in fifth at 4.86m.
Rusk also finished fourth in the 200m in 27.03 seconds while Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois) was fifth in 27.57. Moore-Bell qualified for the 60m finals in 7.98 seconds and finished sixth with a time of 8.04 seconds in the final.
Natalie Gonzalez (Galesburg, Illinois) placed third in the 60m hurdles with a PR of 10.40 seconds while Tatum Points (East Peoria, Illinois) was fifth in 11.04.
Paige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) took sixth in the mile with a 20-second PR of 5:35.10. Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington, Heights, Illinois) finished sixth in the 800m at 2:35.51.
MEN
Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) finished second in the shot put with a throw of 14.81m. Orwig also placed fourth in the weight throw at 16.20m with Michael Moreno (Galesburg, Illinois) in fifth with a career-best 15.49m.
Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) and Patrick Curry (Chicago, Illinois) tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.85m, a new indoor best for Morse.
Matthew Bright (Macomb, Illinois) placed fifth in the pole vault at 3.95m.
On the track, Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois) placed third in the 600m with a time of 1:27.23.
Having just finished their season last week in the NCAA Division III playoffs, none of the 13 football players on the track and field roster competed on Saturday.

The Scots are off for the winter holiday break before returning to campus in early January. The next meet is back in Davenport for the Fighting Bee Invitational at St. Ambrose on Saturday, Jan. 17. The Scots will host the Midwest Classic in the Huff Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan 24 at 11 a.m.
