Scots Women Blank Regents in Dominant Home Opener
Monmouth, IL (08/31/2019) — For the ninth time in program history, the Monmouth College women's soccer team didn't allow a single shot, posting a 5-0 win over Rockford in Friday's season opener at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
Three-time all-conference selection Kara-Jade Gordon notched the only goal the Scots would need in the 12th minute, beating a defender and ripping the shot past the Regents' goalkeeper. Jacie Reis - last season's leading scorer - fed Erica Bossard six minutes later for an insurance goal to start a four goal outburst over the next six minutes.
Jodyn Gossell tacked on another tally on a feed from Katlyn Selvig while Reis collected a score of her own and Sam Koppers closed out the barrage with an unassisted goal in the 24th minute to close out the scoring on the night.
Monmouth travels to Central College Monday for their road opener at 5 p.m.
