Simons, Donohoo Leads Sweep of Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

Simons honored for second straight week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/26/2021) — The Monmouth College men's lacrosse team swept the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week awards on Monday as goalkeeper Teagan Simons (Littleton, Colorado)and attacker Kain Donohoo (St. Charles, Illinois) were honored.

Simons won the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second straight week. Simons made 16 saves on Saturday as the Scots won 11-3 at Northland. After falling behind 3-2, Simons shutout the LumberJacks over the final 28 minutes of the game while the offense rallied for the win. The victory was the eighth of Simons' Monmouth career making him the winningest goalie in school history. He leads the MLC in GAA (6.43) and in save percentage (65.1). Simons is on track to have both the single-season and career record for save percentage and GAA in Scots history.

Donohoo led the Scots offense on Saturday with four goals and two assists. At one point he scored three straight goals, two in the third quarter and one early in the fourth. He is tied for sixth in the MLC in goals scored this season (14), ranks fifth in total points (20) and eighth in assists (6). The Scots are 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

They will play at Northwestern Minnesota on Saturday, May 1 in the regular season finale.
