Women's Soccer Falls at Lake Forest on Wednesday
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/07/2026) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team fell 6-0 at Lake Forest on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots (6-4, 2-2) play at Beloit on Saturday in a crucial battle for position in the middle of the MWC standings.
Just 12 minutes into the game, Lake Forest took the lead as a deflected shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net. The hosts scored twice in a two-minute span to make it 3-0 before Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) registered the first Monmouth shot on goal in the 28th minute. Five minutes later the Foresters scored on a cross from the right wing and they made it 5-0 with a rebound goal with just over nine minutes to play in the half. Izzy Seipold (Peoria, Illinois) faced 20 shots in the first half, nine on goal, as she made four saves.
Cadence Covert (Pekin, Illinois) took over in goal for the second half and Lake Forest scored 15 minutes into the half for a 6-0 lead. Hobson took another shot on goal but the Foresters kept the shutout intact as neither team scored in the final 30 minutes.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Covert made three saves ... Taylor Freeman (Washington, Illinois), Ali Barnum (Pekin, Illinois), Ali Denton (Saint Peters, Missouri) and Yoselim Hernandez (Monmouth, Illinois) played all 90 minutes ... Shots finished 31-2 for LFC and shots on goal were 13-2 ... Corner kicks were 15-0 for the hosts ... Lake Forest leads the all-time series 22-7-1 with six straight wins ... They beat the Scots 5-0 last year en route to a MWC Championship and national ranking ... The Scots play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Beloit ... The next home game is against Ripon at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.
