Women's Soccer Falls to Lake Forest on Saturday
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/14/2023) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team allowed three early goals and couldn't catch up in a 6-3 home loss to Lake Forest on Saturday. The Scots (3-7-3, 1-3-1) bagged three goals in the second half but LFC answered for the win.
Lake Forest scored in the 11th, 18th and 19th minutes to take a 3-0 lead. They finished the first half with 14 shots, nine on goal.
Down 4-0, Monmouth got on the board in the 52nd minute. Allison Griffin () scored her first goal of the season as Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) picked up the assist. Lake Forest scored twice in less than three minutes to go up 6-1 in the 73rd minute. Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) got on the board with an unassisted goal, her fifth of the season. Madison Walker (Vernon Hills, Illinois) scored her eighth goal of the season with Beach picking up another assist.
Monmouth played three goalies in the game. Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made three saves and Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) made seven. Bronte de Zwart (Ridleyton, Australia) did not face a shot on goal in the final 16 minutes.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois), Schmidt, Brooke Gruby (Leonardtown, Maryland), and Nicole Koppers (Tinley Park, Illinois) played all 90 minutes. Walker led the Scots with two shots on goal. LFC outshot the Scots 25-7. The Scots host rival Knox in the final home game of the season at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
