Women's Soccer Falls to Simpson on Friday
MONMOUTH, Ill (10/03/2026) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team lost their final non-conference game of the season 5-0 at home to Simpson College on Friday. The Fighting Scots (6-3) return to Midwest Conference action next week and their final six games of the season are all in conference.
The Storm took the lead in the 18th minute and kept the pressure going through the rest of the half. Lauren Dellavalle (Peoria, Illinois) got a shot on goal from distance for Monmouth but Simpson's keeper made the save. Monmouth starting goalkeeper Cadence Covert (Pekin, Illinois) made nine saves in the first half as the Storm took 20 shots.
Simpson scored just three minutes into the second half to double the lead against goalkeeper Izzy Seipold (Peoria, Illinois). They added another just 57 seconds later and made it 4-0 two minutes later. A fifth goal came in the 57th minute giving the Storm four goals in a span of 8:05. The Scots had a couple late corner kicks but did not have a second-half shot on goal.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Covert made nine saves and Seipold made four ... Simpson out shot Monmouth 35-7 and shots on goal were 18-1 ... Monmouth used 18 players on the day with only Ali Barnum (Pekin, Illinois) playing all 90 minutes ... Simpson leads the all-time series 4-2 with three straight wins ... They won the matchup in Iowa 5-1 last year ... The Scots play their next three games, all in conference, on the road ...
