Women's Tennis Falls at Loras

Stefanova wins again in singles and doubles

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/02/2023) — The Monmouth College women's tennis team fell at Loras College 7-2 on Friday in their first of three weekend matches. The Scots will stay in Dubuque, Iowa to face the University of Dubuque and Wisconsin Stout on Saturday.

For the second match in a row, newcomers Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and Kathi Ramsenthaler (Linz, Austria) won at No. 1 doubles. They took down the top doubles team from Loras 8-3. Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) and Jennifer Shimmin (Monmouth, Illinois) lost at No. 2 doubles 8-4 while Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) and Julia Mheidze (Springfield, Illinois) lost at No. 3 doubles 8-0.

In singles, Labicki lost at No. 1 6-0, 6-3. Stefanova won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0 to move to 2-0 on the season. Ramsenthaler went to a 3rd set tiebreak at No. 3 singles but fell 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. Calvert lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Shimmin had the same score at No. 5. Mheidze lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

The Scots (0-2) will face Dubuque at 10 a.m. on Saturday and then face Wisconsin-Stout for a neutral site match at 1 p.m.
