Remembering President George H.W. Bush at Monmouth College

President Bush Gave Monmouth College's 2000 Commencement Address

by Duane Bonifer

MONMOUTH Ill. (12/01/2018) — The passing of President George H.W. Bush on November 30 is particularly bittersweet for members of the Monmouth College Class of 2000. On the afternoon of May 14, 2000, President Bush delivered the commencement address before record numbers of news media and community members. They joined a seated crowd of 2,500 that included family and friends of the 221 members of the Monmouth Class of 2000. Monmouth College Historian and Editor Jeff Rankin looks back on that day in a Medium post here.
