Anderson Breaks School Record, Finishes Third at NCAAs
Boley earns second team All-American honors
MONMOUTH, Ill. (03/14/2025) — Monmouth College senior Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) broke his own school record in the weight throw to finish third in the nation and earn All-American status on Friday. Anderson's finish is the best for MC indoor track and field since Danny Evers won the pole vault national title at the 2018 meet and he's tied for the best weight throw finish ever.
Anderson broke his own school record, set last week, with a throw of 20.02m in his final attempt. He finished third with 20.14m winning and 20.08m in second place. The third-place finish matches Zach Wilson from 2008 as Monmouth's best finish in the event.
Anderson threw 18.20m, 18.97m and 19.55m to qualify third for the finals. His first throw in the finals was 18.89m with a throw of 19.65m before his 20.02m final heave. .
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) threw in flight one with a 17.21m, 17.11m, 17.03m series. He was in ninth place in the first flight and finished 19th overall. Toberman finished 15th last year and 20th in 2023.
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) finished 10th, earning second team All-American status, after a first round foul, Boley threw 17.71m and 17.61m in her final two throws. To make the finals she needed 17.82m.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Championships continue with Toberman in the men's shot put at 10:00 a.m. ET on Saturday and Boley in the women's shot put at 1:30 p.m.
