Anderson Tops 19 Meters in Weight Throw as Scots Compete at IC

MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/17/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams competed in a 10-team meet at Illinois College on Friday night in the final meet before the Midwest Conference Championships. The Scots had nearly 20 career bests on the night and posted two new top 10 performances.

Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) finished second in the shot put at 12.96m with Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) in fourth at 11.96m. Boley also took second in the weight throw at 15.32m.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) posted the eighth best pole vault in Monmouth history at 3.29m. Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) was third in the triple jump at 10.18m. Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) was fifth in the long jump at 4.88m.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois), Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois), Engst, and Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois) finished second in 4:17.08.

Men
Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) became the third Monmouth thrower ever to sail the weight past 19 meters. He finished third at 19.05m joining John Hintz and Joe Krall who both surpassed 19 meters in 2019. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished fourth at 18.35m. .

Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) finished fifth in the long jump at 6.19m. Patrick Curry, Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) took fourth in the high jump at 1.85m.

On the track, Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) took third in the 400m in 52.56 seconds and fifth in the 200m at 23.42. Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) was fifth in the 800 in 1:57.39. Peter Soutsos (Highland Park, Illinois) was fifth in the 60m hurdles in a career-best 9.12 seconds.

The 4x400m relay team of Outlaw, Curry, Newton and Eli Perry (Prospect Heights, Illinois) took second in a time of 3:28.67.

NEXT UP:

The Scots head to the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships at Ripon College in Wisconsin. The MWC Championships start on Friday, Feb. 23 and end on Saturday.
