Ashby Named MWC Softball Player of the Week

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/06/2026) — Monmouth College senior infielder Karliegh Ashby (Monmouth, Illinois) was named the Midwest Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday.

Ashby hit .526 last week as the Scots went 5-1, including a 3-1 mark in Midwest Conference play. The 3-1 mark matches Monmouth's best MWC start since a 4-0 record started the 2011 campaign.

Ashby started her week by going 3-for-7 with two RBI, a run scored, a walk and a stolen base in a double header sweep of Eureka on Tuesday. On Friday, she was 3-for-6 in a double header split with defending MWC champion Lake Forest. In game two she drove in two runs with two doubles as Monmouth beat Lake Forest for the first time in four years, ending a 9-game losing streak to the Foresters.

Ashby capped her week on Saturday with her first career home run as the Scots swept Beloit on the road. She was 3-for-4 in game one with the home run, a double two runs scored and three RBI..In game two, Ashby was 1-for-2 with a double, walk and two runs scored.

For the week Ashby was 10-for-19 (.526) with a home run, four doubles, seven RBI, five runs scored, a hit by pitch, three walks, a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt as she reached base 14 times.

Ashby joins Savannah Powers (Volo, Illinois) as the second MWC Player of the Week this season. The Fighting Scots will play at Knox on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. double header.
