Boley, Toberman Lead Scots at MWC Champonships

Allen Earns Elite20 Academic Award

MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/11/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams claimed six more titles on Saturday and finished the MWC Outdoor Championships with nine titles. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) and Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) swept their three throwing events and Boley was named MWC Women's Field Performer of the Year. The women's team finished second overall while the men finished fourth. Senior Bethany Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) won the MWC's Elite20 Award for highest GPA by any competitor in the event. Allen also won that award in 2023 at the Indoor Championships.

MEN
Toberman won the shot put with a new PR of 16.04m for his third win of the weekend. He matched his previous PR of 16.02m on his first throw and led throughout before going up to 16.04m on the final throw to win by 1.44m. With the win, Toberman swept the shot put, discus and hammer at the meet and he now has five outdoor titles, including consecutive shot put wins. He has nine total MWC Championships and this is Monmouth's 22nd outdoor title in the shot put

Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) won the 400m race in a season-best time of 49.55 seconds. Outlaw is Monmouth's first outdoor 400m champion since 2017 and 19th overall. He also won the 400m indoors at the MWC Championships this year.

Outlaw anchored the 4x400m relay team that won in a season-best time of 3:20.87, winning by nearly three seconds. Patrick Curry, Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) started the race, handed off a lead to Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) and Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) gave Outlaw the lead for the final lap. The Scots also won the 4x400m relay last year and have 22 titles in the event.

Curry set a new PR at 1.85m in the high jump to finish third. Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) finished seventh at 1.75m.

Newton finished third in the 800m with the fourth-best tie in school history. His 1:53.63 is a new PR by two seconds.

Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) finished fourth in the shot put at 14.09m and third in the javelin at 45.39m.

Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) took seventh in the 3000m steeplechase to earn two points with a time of 10:13.60. Patterson took seventh place in the 200m with a time of 22.99.

Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) took fourth in the 400m hurdles final with a time of 59.26 seconds. Peter Soutsos (Highland Park, Illinois) finished eighth in the 110m hurdles final with a time of 16.58.

The 4x100m relay of Patterson, Curry, Bryson Thomas (Galesburg, Illinois) and Lane Grice (East Galesburg, Illinois) finished sixth in 43.92.

WOMEN
Boley won the hammer and the discus on Saturday to join Toberman as a 3-time champion this weekend. In her signature event, the discus, Boley threw 42.05 to win her third straight discus title at the MWC Championships. She is the 15th discus champion in Monmouth history and the Scots have won four titles in a row. Boley has six outdoor MWC Championships and eight overall and she was also the Indoor Field Performer of the Year in 2024.. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took fourth in the discus and Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was eighth.

Boley started her day by winning the hammer throw at 49.25m, nearly 2m more than the runner up. This marks Monmouth's 13th hammer title and the fourth year in a row they have claimed the title, by four different throwers. Toth took third at 46.28m, Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) took fourth at 43.15m and Braun finished sixth with a PR of 42.18m.

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) took fifth in the 100m race at 12.58 seconds Rusk also finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 26.22 seconds. In the triple jump, Rusk finished second at 10.51m, Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) was fifth at 10.31m and Emma Crofton (Neponset, Illinois) was seventh at 10.11m.

Competing in the high jump for the first time this season, Makaiha Moore-Bell (Galesburg, Illinois) finished sixth at 1.40m.

Rusk, Moore-Bell, Tayler Raska (Galesburg, Illinois) and Nicole Hoyer (Montgomery, Illinois) teamed up for the 4x100m relay, finishing fifth in 51.16 seconds. . The 4x400m relay team of Rusk, Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois, Hoyer and Eaton finished seventh.

The women finished second with 123 points while Ripon won with 149.
