Bossert Leads Fighting Scot Spring Invite After Round One
MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/07/2024) — The Monmouth College golf teams played host on Saturday with the first round of the Fighting Scot Spring Invite at Gibson Woods. After the first of two rounds, Monmouth junior Briggs Bossert (Evanston, Illinois) leads the men's event with an even-par 71.
MEN
Bossert set the pace on Saturday with a 71 and he leads by two strokes. Ganon Greenman (Alpha, Illinois) is in fifth place after a 5-over 76.
Carter Wilson (Washington, Illinois) shot an 8-over 79 to tie for ninth place. Zackery Manley (Lincoln, Illinois), playing as an individual, is tied for 24th place at 87 and Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) is right behind him with an 88.
Cole Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado), playing as an individual, shot 90 and is in 29th place. Grant Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) is in 30th place after a 94 and Declan Flynn (Monmouth, Illinois), playing as an individual, shot 96 for 33rd place..
The Scots shot 314 as a team and sit in third place. St. Norbert leads the men's competition at 305 and Danville-Area Community College in in second at 312.
WOMEN
Playing for the first time since the SLIAC Championships in October, the women were led by
Annalyn Lovell (Oneida, Illinois) with a 102. Lovell is tied for 15th place, just ahead of Audrey Waller (Pekin, Illinois) who shot 109. Lexie Campbell (Earlville, Illinois) shot 124 with Sydney Grant (Morton, Illinois) at 143 and Izzy McDermott (Evanston, Illinois) at 154.
The Scots shot a team score of 478 and sit in fourth place. Olivet leads the team competition with a 353 and they also have the individual leader at 12-over 83.
Round two, weather permitting, is set for Sunday at 9 a.m.
