Braun Named MWC Performer of the Week

by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (03/31/2026) — Monmouth College senior thrower Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday after the first outdoor meet of the season.

Braun's outdoor season picked up where her indoor campaign left off with strong throws in the shot put and discus at Illinois State's Redbird Challenge last weekend. Competing against mostly Division I athletes, Braun finished second in the shot put and ranks 24th nationally with a throw of 12.76m. Her throw leads the Midwest Conference by almost a full meter. She also had the best discus throw for any non-DI competitor at the meet and her 37.98m toss ranks second in the MWC. Braun's 41.32m hammer throw ranked second to teammate Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) among all non-DI throwers and also ranks top-five in the MWC this season.

Braun was the MWC Field Performer of the Year at the indoor meet in Feburary and she won multiple POW awards for the indoor season. Braun and her teammates will compete in Rock Island on Saturday at Augustana's Viking Olympics.
