Brown Wins Third MWC Award in Four Weeks
MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/17/2025) — For the third time in four weeks, Monmouth College men's basketball freshman Zay Brown (Peoria, Illinois) has been named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week.
Brown kept his great run of play going to lead the Scots to a share of the MWC regular season title last week. At home on Tuesday, Brown scored a career-high 31 points and had a career-high five blocks in a win over rival Knox. Brown was 10-for-14 from the field, 10-of-15 at the line and added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.
On Saturday at Ripon, Brown had 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals and three assists as the Scots moved to 12-2 in MWC play and clinched at least a share of the title. For the week, Brown was 17-for-28 (.607) from the field, 13-for-19 (.684) and averaged 24 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Brown has already set the Monmouth College record for most points and most rebounds by a freshman. He ranks sixth in the MWC in scoring at 17.2 ppg, first in rebounds at 8.4 per game, second in shooting percentage at 53.2 and first in blocks at 1.3 per game.
Brown and the Fighting Scots (18-5, 12-2) host Cornell on Wednesday night with a chance to lock up the No. 1 seed, in the MWC Tournament.
