Costello, Plumley Finish in Top 20 at Brissman-Lundeen Invite
MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/28/2024) — The Monmouth College cross country teams ran in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) and Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) finished in the top 20 individually as the men finished in seventh place and the women didn't have a team score.
Plumley ran 27:29.1 for the men's 8K race and finished 18th overall, his third straight top 2- finish. Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) ran 28:52.7 to finish 58th just ahead of Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) in 62nd at 28:57.4. Freshman Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois) finished 81st in 29:28.8 with freshman Nico Yeo Wiedman (Henry, Illinois) in 161st at 36:04.6
The women ran the 6K distance for the first time this season and Costello finished in 16th place with a time of 25:33.3. Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) finished 48th in 27:51.4. Paige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) finished 78th in 30:31.1 and Kaeley Kent (Springfield, Illinois) finished 82nd in 31:44.2.
The Scots have a week off before the Gene Davis Invite in Appleton, Wisconsin on Oct. 12.
