Cross Country Teams Compete at Brissman-Lundeen Invite

Monmouth Men finish 8th

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/03/2026) — The Monmouth College Cross Country teams ran at Augustana's Brissman-Lundeen Invite on Saturday in Rock Island. The men finished in eighth place while the women did not get a team score.

Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) was the top Monmouth finisher at 27:34 as he took 51st place. Andrew Peterson (Galesburg, Illinois) finished 55th in 27:40.2 and Dawid Opiola (Arlington Heights, Illinois) was 80th in 28:06.5. Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois) ran 28:39.3 to finish 104th and Jack Wayne (Yorkville, Illinois) finished 109th in 28:45.3.

Wyatt Hall (Oneida, Illinois) set a new PR of 29:13.3 as he finished 131st. Braden Rees (Galesburg, Illinois) finished 197th in 31:08.5 and Riley Morgan (Jewett, Illinois) was 213th in 31:46.4.

The women's race was first on Saturday and a return to the 6K distance after running 5K last week. Freshman Morgan Sheley (Lincoln, Illinois) finished in 52nd place with a PR of 25:20.3. Senior Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) finished 108th in 28:05.5

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: The men finished ahead of the three other MWC teams in the event: Lake Forest, Illinois College and Knox ... The men's event featured nationally ranked University of Chicago (No. 7) and North Central (No. 15).. ... Chicago also won the women's race and are ranked No. 5 nationally ... Sheley's performance is 3:28 better than her previous 6K best at the Les Duke Invite last month ... Hall took 27 seconds off his PR, also from the Les Duke invite ... Both teams have next week off before competing at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria on Friday, October 16.
