Cross Country Teams Compete in Iowa on Saturday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/10/2023) — The Monmouth College cross country teams had their first full distance races on Saturday at the Les Duke Invite, hosted by Grinnell College. The men ran 8k with an eighth-place finish as a team and the women ran 6k without a team score.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) ran 29:00.99 to finish 69th and freshman Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) finished 79th in 29:22.85. Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) was 91st in 30:02.8 and Liam MacLellan (Chicago, Illinois) was 135th in 32:53.32. Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) was145th in a time of 34:57.04. Alex Urbina (Round Lake Beach, Illinois) and Nate Newlin (Dekalb, Illinois) rounded out the Monmouth team with times of 37:30.73 and 42:26.71 respectively.

On the women's side, Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) finished 62nd in 28:09.76 with Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) in 76th in a time of 29:15.55. The Scots didn't register a team score on the women's side. Kristen Rebman (Macomb, Illinois) finished 100th in 37:20.29.

The Scots will next run on Friday in the Bradley Intercollegiate in Peoria.
