Donohoo Scores Five but Lacrosse Falls on Wednesday

Knapp adds hat trick in 17-9 loss

MONMOUTH, Ill (03/31/2022) — The Monmouth College men's lacrosse team went on the road Wednesday for a make-up game at Illinois Tech and lost 17-9. The Scots are now 4-3 on the season as they prepare to start conference play at home on April 9.

The Scarlet Hawks scored the first four goals of the game and led 4-0 with 6:02 to play in the opening quarter. Jeff Knapp (Nolensville, Tennessee) got the Scots on the board with 1:07 to play in the first quarter. Both teams scored in the final 40 seconds of the quarter with Kain Donohoo (St. Charles, Illinois) scoring unassisted with 13 seconds left.

Illinois Tech pushed the lead to 7-2 before Donohoo scored again. Michael Casey (Chicago, Illinois) scored with two seconds left in the half to cut the Monmouth deficit to 8-4 at the break.

The score was 11-4 when Knapp scored in the third quarter and IT scored the next three for a 14-5 lead. Donohoo scored his third of the game to end the third quarter.

The Scots went down 17-6 before scoring the final three goals of the game. Knapp had the first of those with 3:28 to play and Donohoo scored twice in a 10-second span to cut the lead to 17-9.
