Double Digit Saves Not Enough in Water Polo Loss
Monmouth, IL (09/22/2019) — Kyle Jones turned in another double-digit save effort, but the Scots' offense was lacking in Saturday's 22-5 loss at McKendree.
The Scots fell behind early when the Bearcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Jesus Aguirre got the Scots on the board with a pair of goals to cut the margin to 4-2 with 1:25 left in the opening frame, but that would be as close as the Scots would get. Luke Mulcrone added a solo goal in the second eight minutes, but Monmouth trailed 12-3 at the intermission. Aguirre added his third goal just after the half and Dakota Salmi logged his first collegiate goal in the same period before McKendree shut the Scots down in the fourth quarter.
Monmouth travels to Pennsylvania for three matches Sept. 28-29.
