Five Scots Earn Membership in National Football Foundation Hampshire Society
Monmouth, IL (04/15/2020) — A program-record five Monmouth College student-athletes have earned induction into the National Football Foundation Hampshire Society, recognizing academic excellence on the gridiron.
Seniors Seth Cunningham (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac), Clark Gaden (Chatham, Ill./Chatham-Glenwood), McCauley Johnston (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County), Nick Miyler (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) and Brennan White (Virden, Ill./North Mac) are among the more than 1,400 players across all divisions to earn membership in the society. To gain membership in the honor society, players must have maintained a minimum 3.2 grade point average over the course of their playing careers.
A defensive back, Cunningham played in all but one game last fall recording 10 solo tackles and intercepting a pair of passes. A two-time academic all-conference honoree, he is a business and economics major and the son of Shanda Harms and Chris Harms.
Gaden recorded 50 solo tackles and 97 total stops from his linebacker spot to lead the Scots in both categories last fall. The Midwest Conference Defensive Skills MVP and a three-time academic all-conference honoree, he is a business and accounting major and the son of Kevin and Jodi Gaden.
Johnston, a defensive lineman, returned to the field a year after missing his entire junior season with an injury and played in all 10 games last fall. A two-time academic all-conference honoree, he is a business and accounting major and the son of David and Marque Johnston.
Miyler played in all 10 games last season, recording 49 solo tackles and 62 total stops as a defensive back to rank second on the team in each category. The first team all-conference selection is an exercise science major and the son of Adam and Casey Miyler.
White played in eight of Monmouth's 10 games last season, throwing a pair of touchdowns and passing for nearly 400 yards. A two-time academic all-conference honoree, the quarterback is an exercise science major and the son of Susan Kingdon and John White.
Only student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and were a starter or significant reserve are eligible for inclusion in the NFF Hampshire Society.
