MONMOUTH, Ill. (08/27/2022) — The Monmouth College women's tennis team opened the 2022 season on Saturday with a 6-3 loss to Central College. The match was the first under new head coach Brian Dahlstrom and also the first match on the newly resurfaced Monmouth tennis courts.

Freshman Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) started her college career with a doubles win, teaming with senior Emily Laughlin (Milan, Illinois). At No. 1 doubles, they won 8-6 to get the Scots on the board.

Down 2-1 after doubles, Monmouth grabbed another win from Labicki at No. 1 singles. She won 6-2, 6-2 but Central clinched the match with four singles wins. Isabel Hammond (Germantown Hills, Illinois) won at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-2 to give the Scots a second singles win.

Last year the Scots started the season with an 8-1 loss at Central. The Scots are next in action on Saturday, Sep. 3 when they host both Wisconsin-Stout and the University of Dubuque.
