Griffin, Beach Scorte as Scots Shutout Rams
MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/08/2024) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team picked up a conference road win on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory at Cornell. The Scots (3-6-3, 1-1-1) scored in both halves to even their MWC record on the season.
Allison Griffin (Geneseo, Illinois) gave Monmouth the early lead with an unassisted goal in the 12th minute. The Scots outshot Cornell 10-1 in the first half and led 1-0 at the break. Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made one save in goal for the half.
Bronte de Zwart (Adelaide, Australia) made five saves in goal in the second half. Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) doubled the lead in the 57th minute with her seventh goal of the season. Kiersten Medinger (Silvis, Illinois) had her first assist of the season on Beach's goal. Neither team scored over the final half hour as Monmouth held on for the 2-0 win.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois) played all 90 minutes and has played every minute this season ... Monmouth has three shutouts on the season ... Monmouth outshot Cornell 22-10 ... ach leads Monmouth with seven goals and 19 points ... She is 16th on the career points list with 46 and 16th on the career goals list with 16 ... Caster moved into seventh on the career minutes list and games played by a goalkeeper list, passing Amanda Havens on both ...
