Hernandez Nets Four Goals in Loss

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/15/2023) — The Monmouth College men's lacrosse team lost at home to Lake Forest College on Saturday, 23-5.

The Foresters led 9-0 at the end of the first quarter and pushed the lead to 12-0. Carlos Hernandez (Billings, Montana) got the Scots on the board with a man-up goal, 1:27 before halftime.

Lake Forest led 15-1 when Hernandez scored with 11:07 to play in the third, He added a third goal with 32 seconds left in the third quarter assisted by Kai Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin). Hernandez scored for the fourth time to open the fourth quarter on an assist from Garrett Cranford (McHenry, Illinois). Ben LaFrenere (Schaumburg, Illinois) scored the final goal of the game with 4:06 to play.

Gordon Kiesgen (Spring Grove, Illinois) led the Scots with 11 ground balls and he was 21-for-29 on faceoffs. Gavin Conway (Steeleville, Illinois) added six ground balls and Cranford led the team with two caused turnovers.

The Scots head to Northland for a Noon game next Saturday and are back at home on Saturday, April 29 against Cornell at Noon.
