Holmes Scores Twice but Scots Fall on Wednesday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (03/16/2023) — The Monmouth College women's lacrosse team got back into action on Wednesday with a 16-3 loss at Culver-Stockton. With their last two games postponed or canceled, the Scots (0-2) hadn't played since the Feb. 25 opener.

Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) scored two minutes into the game to give Monmouth the early lead. Mac Holmes (Clive, Iowa) scored early in the second quarter to cut the CSC lead to 7-2. Holmes scored her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter as Culver-Stockton held on to win 16-3.

Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) made 14 saves and Olivia Turley (Carlinville, Illinois) led the Scots position players with four ground balls. The Scots are next in action at Augustana on Wednesday, March 22.
