Holst Picks Up First Win as Tennis Falls to Loras

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/08/2024) — The Monmouth College women's tennis team lost at home to Loras College 6-1 on Saturday. Freshman Natalie Holst (East Moline, Illinois) picked up her first career singles win to get the Scots on the board. Holst took control of her match at #5 singles from the outset winning 6-0, 6-2.

Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) teamed at #1 doubles to win 6-3, but Loras won the other two doubles matches to claim the doubles point.. Jennifer Shimmin (Monmouth, Illinois) and Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) lost 6-1 at #2 doubles while Holst and Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) lost 7-5 at #3 doubles.

Stefanova lost at #1 singles with a 10-4 tiebreak loss after splitting the first two sets. Labicki kist a tiebreak in the first set as she fell 7-6, 7-5 at #2 singles.Calvert and Shimmin lost at #3 and #4 singles respectively and McKinley lost a third-set tiebreaker at #6.

The Scots head to Iowa next weekend for Midwest Conference matches at Grinnell and Cornell on Saturday.
