Hursey Named MWC Field Performer of the Week

by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/04/2025) — Monmouth College track and field junior Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday. Hursey set a new indoor PR in the pole vault at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday as she cleared 3.45m. Her mark also set the meet record and matched her outdoor PR from the 2024 MWC Championships.

Hursey has won the pole vault two weeks in a row and her 3.45m vault on Saturday is the fifth-best in Monmouth indoor history. The performance also ranks first in the Midwest Conference this season and puts her in the top 50 for all Division III female athletes at 46th.

Hursey and her Fighting Scots teammates will be back in action this Saturday at the Keck Select, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. The Scots are back home on Feb. 15 for the Roger Haynes Invitational and host the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 28-Mar. 1. Hursey is the defending MWC champion in the pole vault for both indoor and outdoor.

This marks the fourth time this season a Monmouth athlete has won the women's field performer of the week. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the award for her throwing performances on Dec. 17, Jan. 21 and Jan 28.
