Experienced admission professional has served as College's vice president for admission.
MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/08/2019) — Kristen English has been named Monmouth College vice president for enrollment management.
English succeeds Trent Gilbert, who has been named Birmingham-Southern College vice president for enrollment.
"Kristen is an outstanding admission professional with a proven track record of success, and she knows Monmouth College and understands the students and families we serve," said Monmouth President Clarence R. Wyatt. "She was a natural choice to lead our enrollment management efforts as we continue to build Monmouth College for even greater quality and service."
English has served Monmouth for the last year as its associate vice president for admission.
"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to serve Monmouth College as a member of the senior leadership team," she said. "Monmouth is a special place, with an impressive history and a bold strategic vision for the future. It's an exciting time to be at Monmouth College."
As vice president for enrollment management, English will oversee the College's Admission Office and Office of Student Financial Planning.
During his four years leading Monmouth's admission program, Gilbert created a strategic plan that increased out-of-state growth and the quality of its freshman class.
"It has been an honor to serve President Wyatt and Monmouth College," said Gilbert. "Monmouth has a very bright future because of strong vision and leadership, challenging and innovative academic programs, and a campus community committed to all students' success."
Wyatt said that Monmouth benefitted from Gilbert's leadership in several ways.
"In his years with us, Trent has made Monmouth College a stronger institution," said Wyatt. "The programs and the processes he has put in place, and his belief in the mission of the College, have rendered positive results. Even more, he has put in place an approach that will sustain and build a stronger Monmouth for many years to come.
"My wife, Lobie, and I thank Trent, and we, along with the entire Monmouth community, wish him, his wife, Adrienne, and their sons all the best in this new phase of their lives. I will be sad to not have the daily benefit of his good counsel, his energy, his optimism and his can-do spirit, but we will continue to benefit from the strong foundation he has helped to build."
Before coming to Monmouth, English was director of undergraduate admissions at Newman (Kan.) University. She has also served as director of graduate admission at Merrimack (Mass.) College and as an admissions counselor at the University of Indianapolis.
English has a bachelor's degree in journalism with a specialization in public relations from Butler University and a master's degree in higher education from Merrimack.
