Lummus Named to Midwest Conference Second Team for Baseball

Catcher led Scots in multiple categories in 2023

MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/18/2023) — Monmouth College sophomore Daniel Lummus (New Port Richey, Florida) was named to the Midwest Conference baseball second team on Thursday. The catcher/outfielder is the only Fighting Scots representative on the all conference team.

Lummus led Scots hitters in average (.357), OPS (.882), hits (46), doubles (10) and RBI (30). He also scored 24 runs, stole four bases and drew 15 walks for a .432 OBP and a .450 Slugging percentage.

He played in 36 games, starting 35 with time behind the plate and in right field. He led the Midwest Conference in fielding percentage by a catcher at .996 with just one error and six passed balls. He also led all MWC catchers in throwing out 43.2% of base stealers on the season with only 21 allowed.

Lummus, a physics and math major, was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team this week with a cumulative GPA over 3.50.
