Luntsford, Toth Win Events at Viking Olympics

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/04/2026) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Viking Olympics on Friday in Rock Island, Illinois. Paige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) and Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) both won events while the Scots had numerous top 10 finishes and new personal bests.

WOMEN

Luntsford dominated the 5000m race, winning by more than two minutes. She took 58 seconds of her career best outdoor time and was just 12 seconds off the Monmouth top 10 list for the event.

Toth won the hammer with a throw of 50.46m. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) placed second in the shot put with a season-best 13.40m. Toth was fifth at 11.96m with Kyra Bivins (Esmond, Illinois) in sixth at 11.30m and Lauren Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in eighth at 10.35m . Braun also took sixth in the discus at 39.91 with Bivins in 10th at 36.82m.

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) finished fourth in the long jump at 4.90m, fourth in the triple jump at 9.97m and sixth in the 100m race in 12.75 seconds

Sophia Kern (Abingdon, Illinois) was fourth in the 100m hurdles in 18.41 with Tatum Points (East Peoria, Illinois) in seventh in 19.33 seconds. Kern also took third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.63 and Points was fifth in 1:21.18

Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) was fourth in the 800m at 2:38.60 and eighth in the 400m in 1:07.17.

MEN

Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) was third in the 400m race in 49..94 seconds and fourth in the 200m race with a season-best 22.06 seconds.

Johnny York (Elmwood, Illinois) was third in the long jump at 6.61m with Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) in ninth at 6.22m

Kaden Foglesong (Ipava, Illinois) took fourth in the 110m hurdles with a new PR of 15.90 seconds.

Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) finished fifth in the high jump at 1.85m with Patrick Curry (Chicago, Illinois) in seventh at 1.80m. Morse also finished eighth in the high jump at 1.90m

Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) was third in the 5000m in 16:54.57 and Braden Rees (Galesburg, Illinois) was fifth in 17:07.41.

Luke Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 44.43m.

Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) was third in the shot put at 14.35m, a new PR, Landon Erxleben was fifth at 13.80m with Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in sixth at 13.56m, Kolton Small (Wapello, Iowa) in eighth at 13.45m and Dame Thioubou (Monmouth, Illinois) in 10th at 12.86m.

Orwig was seventh in the hammer at 47.11m with Bryant in eighth at 45.15m. Small finished eighth in the discus at 41.44m.

Matthew Bright (Macomb, Illinois) was seventh in the pole vault at 3.95m while Grice placed ninth at 3.65m.

Patterson, York, Maddux Clark (Monmouth, Illinois) and Ruffin took fifth in the 4x100m relay in 42.63 seconds. Clark, Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois), Riley Morgan (Jewett, Illinois) and Brady Young (Paxton, Illinois) took sixth in the 4x400m relay in 3:41.60

The Scots head to the Grinnell, Iowa next Saturday for the Dick Young Classic.
